It Sucked And Then I Cried

30 April 2009

I’ve purposely been reading Dooce’s book as slowly as I can, which has proved remarkably difficult as I’d love nothing more than to curl up for one full day and devour the entire thing from beginning to end. But alas, I am making what I feel is a valiant effort to prolong the pure hilariousness and heartfelt, tear stained moments in this book. I am positively smitten - a fantastic book by a fantastic writer.

Highly recommended!

A Common Case of Whodunnit.

30 April 2009

I had quite a scare yesterday, that left me feeling uneasy in my own home. While cleaning up the living room yesterday afternoon, I found two footprints on our hallway rug that looked like work boot prints. This was an extremely unsettling discovery, as neither HP nor I own any kind of work boots, or any boots for that matter.

After informing HP of the mystery footprints, we came to the conclusion that someone must have used our bathroom while wearing work boots, which didn’t make any sense at all, as neither of us have friends who wear work boots. Not to mention that it’s been about a week since anyone other than us have been inside our house.

Both of us went to bed last night still wondering how those footprints got there. I assure you it was not the most pleasant feeling to fall asleep to.

Fast forward to this morning. After our shower, HP and I often climb back into bed for 10-15 minutes to relax and chat before getting ready for work. During this time, HP realized that I not only own, but often wear a pair of boot-like platform shoes - shoes that have boot soles.

After consulting said pair of shoes, we realized that I was the one who had left the tracks on the rug. Thus solves our mystery intruder - it was me, in the hallway, with platform shoes. If this were a game of Clue, I guess that means I lose!

Drinks At The Beach

Again, I completely spaced yesterday’s picture. So instead, here’s my absolute favorite shot from our coast trip last weekend. It still makes me happy, just looking at it. What an absolutely perfect lunch date.♥

The original advertising strategy is clearly all wrong.

I am 100% positive that every American household would own at least one Slap Chop if they had aired this commercial instead.

Sweet Dreams and Fuzzy Blankets

Not only did I make it through an entire Uma Thurman movie, I even halfway enjoyed it.

A sad, dreary day for a sad, dreary post.

28 April 2009

I feel that I’m growing apart from a person I love and care about very much, at such a rapid rate that I sense our relationship has already changed.

As life takes it’s course, friendships come and go. This is a one that I’m not willing to give up on. I’m going to fight for as long as I can.

Unfortunately, we seem to be losing our common ground in this one.

The 2 year draught has been broken!

27 April 2009

Nearly 3 years after my last tattoo, I have put an end to the ink draught! I’ve had this idea in my head for 2 years now, and I finally decided that 2 years is long enough to feel ABSOLUTELY SURE about placement, book font and color.

It’s one day old and a bit bruised, but here is my brand new knitting tattoo:

k2tog

For those of you whom aren’t married to knitting needles, k2tog means “knit 2 together” in knit speak. It is generally written as k2tog in knitting patterns, and decreases 2 separate stitches into one - to knit two together, into one.♥ Dual meaning, as it’s both literal in the knitting sense, and symoblic for love and companionship.

Now, before anyone scoffs at the silliness of a knitting tattoo, I’ll explain. Knitting is something I’m deeply passionate about, and something I believe has become a part of who I am. I have no doubt that I will continue to knit for the rest of my life, or until I no longer have finger ninja mobility.

The process of knitting - the pattern choice, the yarn purchase, the physical challenge of creating something from almost nothing - is my therapy. Learning to knit single-handedly got me through a very rough time when my anxiety was dibilitating my daily life. Knitting requires both hands, physically forcing each hand to have something to do, and allows my thoughts to concentrate on the challenge of difficult stitches and figuring out ways to force my yarn into submission.

I owe a lot to knitting, and to MeanBean who so wonderfully encouraged me to learn. I’m also grateful to my HP, as he puts up with my overpowering yarn stash without a word (usually).

So there you have it. I am so very in love with my new ink, it was the perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. It is exactly what I wanted.

Update: This is on the inside of my right wrist to match a red and black piece all the way around my left wrist.

Day Trip to the Coast!

25 April 2009

Cannon Beach is beautiful, to say the least. Even on a windy, rainy day. HP and I woke up Saturday morning itching for a day trip somewhere. An hour later, we were on our way to the Oregon coast for what would be the most relaxing, enjoyable 10 hours we’ve had in a very long time.

Quick Update

25 April 2009

The past few days have been a busy, hectic whirlwind. The photo project is going smoothly, so far so good! I’ve been taking my daily pictures, it’s just finding the time to post them that can be trying.  It’s movie night now, but tomorrow morning I’ll be making up for missing photo posts.
Stay tuned.

Out & About

24 April 2009

This isn’t the greatest picture, that’s for sure. It was snapped with my cell phone camera while in the truck with HP on our way to grab dollar menu dinner at Jack in the Box. If it weren’t for this one shot, I wouldn’t have a photo to post today. Everyone needs a dark, mysterious photo of themselves, right??
