Blech

29 August 2007

Why am I cursed with life-long headaches? I’m so tired of them. Bah. My head is killing me and working on a computer all day only makes it worse. Le’sigh. Less than an hour to go. I can do this.

I’m going to go home and knit. Mmm hmm… I need to go yarn shopping ASAP. I really want to restart those armwarmers.

Coasters, domino necklaces, and scary sewing machines

28 August 2007

I’ve started my coasters and they are going to be nothing less than amazingly wonderful. I’m using white ceramic bathroom tiles from Home Depot. Last night I cut and hot glued rubber backing to 3 sets of four coasters. I’ve cut and arranged the magazing clippings for them as well; that’s going to be my project for this afternoon.

HP is going to drill holes in my dominos. I’ve already cut 12 pictures to use on them. The dominos are bigger than I was imagining, so they are going to be somewhat ‘in-your-face’ necklaces, but I’m sure they’ll still be cool when I’m finished. I’m still unsure what I’ll use to string them… I’m thinking of trying a few different chains, memory wire, and maybe even leather strips before deciding which looks the best. You never know, a domino choker could be pretty neat. ^_^

My camo scarf is nearly finished. I’m so proud. I can’t wait to rock it. It’ll be the first knit project I’ve completed. That’s a great accomplishemnt if I do say so myself.

I haven’t played with my sewing machine yet. Honestly, the damn thing intimidates me. We’ll see if I’m motivated one of these days. Maybe this weekend, we’ll see.

Gotta get back to work, I’ll post pictures later.

Crafting Update ^_^

27 August 2007

It’s only 10:00am and already I can’t wait to go home. Nothing to do with work, but simply because I want to play with my new sewing machine! It’s tiny and dangerous (LOL!!) but I love it. I’m going to buy a nicer one sometime next month when I have some more extra cash. I’ve spent enough for now. lol

I bought 3 different patterned fabric (one red w/black asian characters, one black with white polka dots, and one red and yellow fire-ish with skeletons all over it), 2 yards of red and black tulle, and a yard of thick black twill. I’m going to be a skirt making machine. lol I’m going to cut the seam on the homeade skirt I already have and use it as a pattern. Then I’ll sew the seam back up since it’s already ripped about 8 inches and needs mending.

I’ve started cutting pictures to use for my coasters. So far I have 2 definite sets ready and one or two more almost ready. I need to find a good, thick paint brush to brush on the acrylic lacquer. I’m also ready to have Handosme-Pants drill holes in my dominos so I can start making necklaces!

My camo scarf is nearly finished! I can’t explain how excited that makes me. I’m almost able to wear something I’ve knit myself!! That’s such an accomplishment! I’ve started a deep purple scarf for my sister’s Christmas gift (about 20 rows so far) and I’ve put down the 3 rows of my first armwarmers. I just can’t seem to get the hang of my circulars just yet. I’ll work on that again one of these days. Maybe when my camo scarf is done. *Very proud*

I haven’t even played with my new jewelry making supplies. I need to get a pair of needle nose pliars…. or adopt an extra pair of HP’s.

Anyway, yay for learning to sew. I’m going to be a regular Susie Homemaker before you know it. Which is a good thing for me since my anxiety has been horrible so far today.

I need to get back to work.

Weekend Crafting Spree

25 August 2007

So I’ve spent the past two days on a craft supplies spree. Literally, no exaggeration. Hey, while I have a good job, why not?! This is The List of all that I’ve picked up:

♥ Singer SewQuick (wee little sewing machine)
♥ Beginners Sewing Kit (includes scissors, measuring tape, tracing wheel, tomato pin cushion, needle threader, marking pen, sewing gauge, needles, striaght pins, bent trimmers, seam ripper, thimble and carrying case)
♥ 12 Threaded Bobbins for the sewing machine
♥ 4 pieces of fabric for my mouse kitty toy project
♥ Thin leather strips for the tails of the mice
♥ Bells to go inside the mice
♥ Mini crafting steam iron
♥ Hot Plate
♥ 20 white ceramic tiles for my coaster project
♥ Black polyurethane backing for the undersides of the coasters
♥ 20 white light switch and outlet covers
♥ Various magazines and comics for the coasters and light switch and outlet covers
♥ Laqeur to coat the tiles and covers
♥ Hot glue gun and glue cartriges
♥ Heavy Duty snap kit
♥ Dominos to make into necklaces, etc.
♥ A beading set including head pins, eye pins, spacers, clasps, ear rings, safety pins and jump pins
♥ All sorts of really neat charms to use for various jewelry projects

Yep, I think that’s it. I definitely have enough to do from now until Christmas! Some of these things will be for me to use/wear/etc., but a lot of them will be given out to friends and family as Christmas gifts this year. I’ve already found the PERFECT idea for my Mom, and the kitteh toys are for family as well. I don’t even have a kitteh. *pouts*

Anyway, I’m going to start cutting out pictures for the coasters. This is going to be so much fun. ^_^ ♥

Knitting Update

23 August 2007

I’ve yet to pick up my arm warmers again. I’m determined to finish my scarf first. It’s hard to have so many things I’d like to do… all at the same time. I don’t have much free time these days, with work and all, so we’ll see how it goes.

I’m going to start screenprinting again. I’ve already made the first screen, I’m finishing up the second tonight. There’s nothing more satisfying than making whatever shirts/patches/etc. you want. So far I have a few great ideas, even a knitting one. :) I’ll be sure to post pictures later.

They’re always after me lucky charms.

23 August 2007

I haven’t written in a few days. Life has been busy. Beyond busy, really. Not much time to sit down and relax lately. Tuesday night was the big MAC event Mom and I were invited to. That was totally fun. It was a giant party, really - including free drinks and about 3209854098 people packed into a very, very small space. Their fall ‘07 line ‘Smoke Signals’ is beautiful. Dark, sexy eyes paired with nude, satin lips. Loves it. I bought one of the quads, though I can’t remember what it’s called. Also picked up a Kohl eyeliner  in Feline (black) - I’ve never had a creamier, smoother liner. It’s heaven, it really is. I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without trying it. I put it on my waterline yesterday and 4 hours later, there it was - just as perfect as when I’d first put it on. Now THAT’S amazing. Honestly the first liner I’ve had (and I’ve tried many, many, many) that will stay on the waterline for more than 30 mins.

Yesterday was very exciting. After getting to bed at 1:00am the night before and having to get up at 6:00am, we were exhausted. We both took a half day at work and dropped my car off at the window tinting place at 2:00. We were asleep by 2:30. My car was ready to pick up around 6:30. Got there, only to find they weren’t finished. After a Starbucks run (mine ended up being free b/c they were out of decaf base!), I finally got to drive her home. She looks HOTT!! I can’t wait to paint my rims now. Oh - and it’s officially paid off!! I own a car. I can’t tell you how exciting that is for me. A very big accomplishment in my life. A step forward. Congratulations to me. :D

Blessthefall and Hawthorne Heights at Warped Tour Yesterday :D

20 August 2007

THIS is how close I was to Blessthefall:

I can’t even explain how completely, wholeheartedly happy that made me. Pushing my way to the front row was easy - considering the only people in my way were 86 lb. anorexic emo boys who looked more like girls. I literally just pushed them out of my way and stepped on up to the front. A few of them threw me some dirty looks, but seriously - what are they going to do?! Push back with their 86 lbs of body mass?? Ha. Yeah, I thought not.

It was absolutely amazing. I think I lost 5 lbs just jumping up and down and having a great time. I loved every minute of it. There’s nothing like seeing your favorite bands play live, right in front of you. The feeling it gives me is something I can’t explain. I’m so glad I went.

Hawthorne Heights was great, but I was on a lot of Xanax for my anxiety (being part of a sea of people causes my anxiety to heighten beyond control) so it was hard for me to really get into it. It’s hard to feel any strong emotion when on Xanax. I still sang along as loud as I could scream the words, and even got cracked in the jaw by the foot of some guy who was crowd surfing. Thanks to the Xanax, I hardly noticed the the blood from biting my tongue when my jaw was slammed together. lol Anyway, here are the pictures from that show, though you can hardly see the band at all…

I need to get back to work. I’ll update more later. :]

Warped Tour = <3

19 August 2007

Too tired to write much, just thought I’d say that we had a damn good time today at Warped Tour. Blessthefall was beyond AMAZING and Hawthorne Heights rocked. I’m so glad we went. We came out unscathed, save for a bit of a lobster tinge to our shoulders, arms and faces. Even managed to walk out with $18 left on me. :)

My mission was a success - I bought a Blessthefall hoodie. Not only was it only twenty effi’ng bucks *OMGZ cheap!!!* but it’s also white - something I steer clear of on a daily basis. Because there was no black to hide under, I boldly purchased the last (dirty, hence why only $20) white hoodie and I love it. The yellow and brown stains on the shoulder and arm prove it’s had it’s good memories on tour with Blessthefall. ;) I’ll take some stain remover to it and see how it comes out. Honestly, I don’t really care!

Also got a Hawthorne Heights tank. I know winter is almost here, but I couldn’t help myself. The problem? Now that I’ve got it home and tried it on properly in front of the mirror, I realize it swims on me. The armpit holes show my bra. That will not do. Now I’m regretting not buying the t-shirt I wanted instead. Bah.

I’m thirsty.
